Trying to find a domain name for your business that is unique, easy to remember, sounds good and most importantly available can sometimes be a daunting challenge. Fortunately, Mashword makes this process easier with its simple, yet powerful name generation capabilities and domain availability checking.

Mashword knows how to pronounce over 129,000 words. This means you can use almost any English word or a combination of two English words to find a unique name. If you are stuck on what words to use, try starting with words that describe your business or using key concepts/products that relate to your business.

Simply type the words into the search box and hit enter. Mashword will then use a mixture of algorithms and techniques to find a list of name suggestions for you. The suggestions returned will look and sound similar to the word(s) you entered. We call each result a "mashup" as each result is based on smashing the words you entered together along the syllable boundaries. (Similar to a portmanteau)

Once your results are returned, you can scroll through the suggestions to find a word you like. The list is sorted in alphabetical order (left-to-right, top-to-bottom). If you entered two words, you may notice that all the results begin like the first word and end like the second word. This is because Mashword constructs the suggestions based on the order you entered the words. You can swap the ordering by simply hitting the "swap" button on the left side of the search box.

When results are returned, they are checked for domain availability against the .com top-level domain (TLD) suffix by default. You can change the domain suffix Mashword checks against by using the dropdown to select one of the 300+ domain suffixes that Mashword supports.

The availability of a domain is indicated by the presence of either a green checkmark if the domain is likely available or a red if the result is not available. Click on a result to confirm domain availability and if it is available you can register it on one of the registrars listed. (Available registrars are Namecheap and Hover)
